Blanket Landscape, Ibiza, 2019

I just came back from a week in Ibiza. I stayed with the amazing Siriya and her beautiful family. She is a homeopath and her partner Stefan is a chiropractor. They are doing powerful work, have a look! @siriya786
I took a blanket with me, already dyed with eucalyptus leaves and was amazed at the change after just a week of working with it.
Here are photos of some of the processes it went through. Brushed with a feather; lain under a lemon tree for a few days and then dribbled with the lemons; washed by the sea (you can’t see where it ends and the beach begins!); rubbed with all kinds of wildflowers, slithered across by a snail; painted with pre-ground pigment made by a beetle 😍; bathed in dappled light. The last photo is a detail of the blanket at the end of the week. Completely different to the others I have made. Can’t wait to stretch it up into paintings!

Last summer I made 24 watercolours, experimenting with form and colour.
I made them on my granny’s beautiful old watercolour paper, in my mother’s house while my baby daughter slept. Now I have framed six of the paintings and hung them in my daughter’s room.
These paintings simply make me feel happy. And I love the connection they have to the women in my family. @rokamason 😘

I will also add that these are not something I will ever exhibit, the rest of them are sitting in my folder in my studio. So if any of you are interested in them please let me know. I would be so happy to have them hanging on walls, for me they are pure joy!
